  • Overview

At Customers Bank, we believe in working hard, working smart, working together to deliver memorable customer experiences, and having fun. Our vision, mission, and values guide us along our path to achieve excellence. Passion, attitude, creativity, integrity, alignment, and execution are cornerstones of our behaviors. They define who we are as an organization and as individuals. Everyone is encouraged to have personal development plans. By doing so, our team members are on their way to achieve their highest potential and be successful in their personal and professional lives.

Customers Bank, recently named by Forbes magazine as the 35th Best Bank in America (there are over 5,700 banks in the United States!), has an immediate opening for a Commercial Credit Analyst/Underwriter reporting to the Regional Credit Officer under the independent risk umbrella in support of our middle market commercial lending activities. This responsibility is fulfilled through the origination of a comprehensive written credit analysis (and, when required, an oral presentation of that analysis to the applicable Loan Committee), as well as continual client monitoring and follow-up based on the financial information provided by borrowers and prospects, augmented by a thorough understanding of the industry in which the borrower/prospective borrower operates.

We are looking for a highly motivated, analytical thinker, who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform financial statement spreading and originate comprehensive written analysis, both for new clients and as part of periodic annual reviews, and other credit related memoranda as needed on all assigned credits.
    • Prepare industry research through available resources to complete credit analysis or to assist lending officers in credit decision process.
    • Be able to read and understand loan documents, able to discuss loan document issues with account officers, borrowers and outside counsel to ensure that when closed, each loan fully complies with bank approved terms and conditions and be able to monitor post-closing covenant and financial reporting compliance.
    • Assist lending and credit officers in maintenance of complete and updated credit files for all assigned borrowers. This includes follow-up with clients to obtain current financial statements and other pertinent information as required.
    • Along with account managers, meet with clients and prospects to gain a fuller understanding of a client’s business activities and financial condition.
    • Provide other credit administration support to lending officers and Regional Credit Officer as necessary to manage credit risk and maintain high quality in the loan portfolio. This includes assistance in follow-up with clients on loan delinquencies and account overdrafts, preparation of Adverse Action Notices, collection of information for turndown and withdrawn application files, and follow-up on missing loan documents, insurance, etc.

    Qualifications

    • At least one year of commercial credit analysis experience in a banking institution preferred.
    • Completion of a bank commercial lending credit training program or similar training preferred.
    • Experience in preparation of credit memoranda is strongly preferred.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills required. Strong skills working with Microsoft Excel.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and business acumen.
    • Ability to build strong relationships.
    • Bachelor’s degree required.
