Customers Bank, recently named by Forbes magazine as the 35th Best Bank in America (there are over 5,700 banks in the United States!), has an immediate opening for a Forecast Analyst within our Corporate Planning team. As a Forecast Analyst, you will be responsible for developing the monthly forecast and annual loan and deposit budget. You will also complete monthly and ad-hoc forecast reporting, partner with business units for input into the ALM model, and complete variance analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts and budgets (monthly and quarterly).
  • Manage the collection of new business assumptions; which includes gathering volumes, rates, timing, and the maturity profile.
  • Complete various, ‘what if’ scenarios and special projects to support strategic decision-making (e.g. "what if" strategic analysis, capital forecasting, new product P&L projections, etc.)
  • Review and identify inconsistencies and/or issues within in the business unit’s forecast and make the appropriate changes in the model and reports.
  • Develop forecast change recommendations supported by internal and external data such as general ledger trends, business initiatives, market trends, etc.
  • Review forecast change impacts and document their financial impact, providing a short narrative for each.
  • Manage month end variance analysis comparing actual balances to forecasted balances including both the balance sheet and income statement. Develop support analysis/commentary.
  • Ensure proper controls are in place for processes in order to consistently deliver high-quality, accurate output.
  • Support headcount modeling and planning.
  • Perform monthly financial reporting, including yield decomposition and committee requirements.
  • Load and reconcile forecast and budget information that is maintained in Hyperion Essbase.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of work experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting, investment banking, and/or corporate finance required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Familiarity with financial modeling. 
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting issues as they relate to the banking industry.
  • Familiarity of banking products and processes desired.
  • Ability to understand and analyze a financial institution balance sheet, income statement, and capital.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and business acumen.
  • Highly effective communications skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills with various Business Units within the organization.
  • Project and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within short time constraints in a complex system and business environment.
  • Microsoft Excel mastery and proven experience in building spreadsheet models.
  • Familiarity with financial modeling software.
  • Hyperion Essbase experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand large volumes of multi-dimensional data, and manipulate it with SQL/VBA and/or Access highly desired.
