Customers Bank, recently named by Forbes magazine as the 35th Best Bank in America (there are over 5,700 banks in the United States!), has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant, SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy.

The Sr. Accountant, SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy is responsible for assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings, quarterly earnings releases, and with assisting in preparation or review of XBRL tagging.  The position will also provide assistance with analyzing new accounting pronouncements and policies related to new banking initiatives. In addition, this person will play a key role in assisting with accounting policy implementation projects, gathering information for external audits and reviews, and other projects as assigned.  We are looking for a dynamic individual that is extremely flexible and who thrives in a high pressure and deadline intensive environment.


  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports – quarterly 10Q’s and annual 10K filed with the SEC, and quarterly earnings releases, including preparation of supporting work papers and analyses supporting the financial statements
  • Assist in preparation or review of XBRL tagging.
  • Research and explain quarterly and year to date fluctuations in income and balance sheet accounts for consideration in earnings releases.
  • Assist in analyzing pending accounting pronouncements and documenting potential impact to financial statement disclosures.
  • Assist in developing accounting policies for new bank initiatives.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual proxy statement and other ad hoc registration statements.
  • Assist in preparation of materials as part of the annual external audits and regulatory exams.


  • 3-5 years of related accounting/finance experience, preferably in a publicly traded banking or financial services environment.
  • An undergraduate degree from accredited University in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent.
  • CPA designation, candidacy or graduate degree a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Strong analytic skills.
  • Strong all around technical skills. This includes, but is not limited to MS Office products (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding and rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
