Overview

Customers Bank, recently named by Forbes magazine as the 35th Best Bank in America (there are over 5,700 banks in the United States!), has an exciting opportunity for an AVP, SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy Manager.

The AVP, SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy Manager is responsible for preparing and/or reviewing quarterly and annual SEC filings, quarterly earnings releases, and monthly financial reporting to the Board of Directors.  The position will also provide assistance with analyzing new accounting pronouncements and policies related to new banking initiatives.  In addition, the Accounting Policy and SEC Reporting Manager will play a key role in assisting with preparation of the annual proxy and other registration statements filed with the SEC. We are looking for a dynamic individual that is extremely flexible and who thrives in a high pressure and deadline intensive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or review financial reports - Monthly financing statements reported to the Board of Directors, quarterly10Q's and annual 10K filed with the SEC, and quarterly earnings releases including preparation of supporting work papers and analysis supporting the financial statements.
  • Assist in the evaluation of all proposed transactions for accounting and reporting implications.
  • Assist in review of XBRL tagging.
  • Prepare and review financial statement disclosure checklists on a quarterly basis.
  • Research and explain quarterly and year-to-date fluctuations in income and balance sheet accounts for consideration in earnings releases.
  • Monitor pending accounting pronouncements and analyze potential impact to financial statement disclosures.
  • Assist in developing accounting policies for new bank initiatives.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual proxy statement and other ad hoc registration statements.
  • Assist in preparation of materials as part of the annual external audits and regulatory exams.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of related accounting/finance experience, preferably in a publicly traded banking or financial services environment.
  • An undergraduate degree from accredited University in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • CPA designation or graduate degree.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent all around technical skills.  This includes, but is not limited to MS Office products (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding and rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
